Bhindi Masala Recipe 🍽️
Ingredients:
- 250 grams okra (bhindi), washed and dried
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 green chili, slit lengthwise
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing
Instructions:
- Trim the ends of the okra and slice them lengthwise into halves or quarters, depending on their size.
- Heat oil in a large pan or kadhai over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
- Add finely chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chili. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add finely chopped tomatoes to the pan. Cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well to combine with the onions and tomatoes.
- Add the sliced okra to the pan. Mix well to coat them with the spice mixture.
- Cover the pan with a lid and let the okra cook over medium-low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the okra is cooked and tender, sprinkle garam masala powder over them. Mix well to incorporate.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Garnish the Bhindi Masala with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
- Serve hot Bhindi Masala with roti, naan, or rice for a delicious North Indian meal.
