Chemmeen Moilee Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g fresh prawns, cleaned and deveined 🍤
  • 1 cup coconut milk 🥥
  • 2 onions, finely chopped 🧅
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped 🍅
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise 🌶️
  • 1-inch ginger, finely chopped 🧄
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced 🧄
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 🌟
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder 🌶️
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder 🌿
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds 🌱
  • 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds 🌿
  • A handful of curry leaves 🍃
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil 🥥
  • Salt to taste 🧂
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish 🌿

Instructions:

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Let them splutter. 🌱
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. 🧅
  3. Add chopped ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for another couple of minutes until fragrant. 🧄
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Stir well to combine. 🌟 🌶️ 🌿
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy and oil starts to separate. 🍅
  6. Now, add cleaned prawns to the mixture. Mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes until they turn pink. 🍤
  7. Pour in coconut milk and stir gently. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes on low heat. 🥥
  8. Season with salt according to taste and add curry leaves for flavor. 🧂 🍃
  9. Once the curry reaches desired consistency, turn off the heat. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. 🌿
