Chicken Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams chicken, cut into pieces 🍗
  • 2 onions, finely chopped 🧅
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped 🍅
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste 🧄
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise 🌶️
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 🌿
  • 1 cinnamon stick 🌿
  • 3-4 cloves 🌿
  • 2 cardamom pods 🌿
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 🌿
  • 2 teaspoons coriander powder 🌿
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder 🌶️
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala 🌿
  • Salt, to taste 🧂
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for garnishing 🌿
  • Cooking oil 🌿
  • Water, as needed 💧

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamom pods. Sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  5. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add chicken pieces to the pan and coat them with the masala. Cook for a few minutes until the chicken starts to brown.
  7. Pour water into the pan, enough to cover the chicken pieces. Cover and cook until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  8. Once the chicken is cooked, sprinkle garam masala over the curry and mix well.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with rice or roti.
