Drip-Brewed Coffee Recipe

Drip-Brewed Coffee Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Freshly ground coffee beans (medium-coarse grind)
  • Filtered water

Equipment:

  • Drip coffee maker or pour-over coffee dripper
  • Coffee filter
  • Measuring scoop or scale
  • Kettle or pot for heating water
  • Mug or cup

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Water: Start by heating water to just below boiling point, around 195-205°F (90-96°C). You can heat water on a stove or use an electric kettle.
  2. Measure Coffee: While the water is heating, measure out the appropriate amount of coffee grounds. A general guideline is about 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds per 6 ounces of water, but you can adjust this ratio according to your taste preferences.
  3. Prepare Filter: If using a drip coffee maker, place a clean coffee filter in the filter basket. If using a pour-over dripper, place the dripper over your mug or carafe and insert a coffee filter.
  4. Add Coffee Grounds: Add the measured coffee grounds to the filter in the coffee maker or dripper.
  5. Bloom the Coffee: Pour a small amount of hot water over the coffee grounds, just enough to wet them evenly. Allow the coffee to "bloom" for about 30 seconds to release trapped gases and enhance flavor extraction.
  6. Brew the Coffee: Slowly pour the remaining hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, ensuring all the grounds are evenly saturated. For drip coffee makers, simply start the brewing process according to the manufacturer's instructions. For pour-over, continue pouring water in stages, allowing the water to drip through the grounds and into the mug or carafe below.
  7. Wait for Brewing: Allow the coffee to drip or brew until all the water has passed through the grounds. This typically takes 3 to 4 minutes for a full pot in a drip coffee maker, or slightly longer for pour-over brewing.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Once the brewing process is complete, remove the filter or dripper, and pour the brewed coffee into your mug or cup. You can enjoy it black or add your favorite milk, cream, sweeteners, or flavorings according to your preference.
  9. Cleanup: Dispose of the used coffee grounds and rinse or clean the coffee maker, filter, or dripper for future use.
  10. Savor the Moment: Sit back, relax, and savor the delicious aroma and flavor of your freshly brewed cup of coffee!

Feel free to adjust the grind size, coffee-to-water ratio, and brewing time to suit your taste preferences and brewing equipment. Enjoy your homemade cup of coffee!
