Dum Paneer Kali Mirch Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams paneer, cut into cubes 🧀
  • 1 cup yogurt, whisked 🥛
  • 1 onion, finely chopped 🧅
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped 🍅
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste 🧄
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns, crushed 🌿
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 🌿
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder 🌿
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 🌿
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder 🌶️
  • Salt, to taste 🧂
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter) 🌿
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for garnishing 🌿

Instructions:

  1. Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add finely chopped onions to the pan and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste to the pan and sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Stir in chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add crushed black peppercorns, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well.
  6. Add whisked yogurt to the pan and stir continuously to prevent curdling.
  7. Once the masala is cooked and the ghee separates, add paneer cubes to the pan and mix gently.
  8. Cover the pan with a lid and let the Dum Paneer Kali Mirch cook on low heat for about 8-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  9. Once done, garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with naan or rice.
