Ingredients:

For the Gulab Jamun:

  • 1 cup milk powder 🥛

For the Sugar Syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar 🧂
  • 1 cup water 💧
  • A few strands of saffron (optional) 🌼
  • 1 teaspoon rose water or cardamom powder (optional) 🌹

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. Mix well.

  3. Gradually add milk to the mixture and knead until it forms a soft and smooth dough. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk. Be careful not to over-knead.

  6. While the dough is resting, prepare the sugar syrup. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water. Bring it to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.

  10. Heat ghee or oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, lower the heat to low-medium.
  11. Gently slide the prepared dough balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the Gulab Jamun on low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and evenly colored.
  12. Remove the fried Gulab Jamun from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain excess oil by placing them on a paper towel.
  13. Reheat the sugar syrup if needed. While the syrup is still warm, carefully drop the fried Gulab Jamun into the syrup.
