Ingredients:

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 1 cup thick coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish 🌿

Instructions:

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions, green chilies, grated ginger, minced garlic, and curry leaves. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  4. Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  5. Add cleaned prawns to the masala and mix until they are coated well.
  6. Pour thick coconut milk into the pan and bring it to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through.
  7. Once done, garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or appam, and enjoy the burst of flavors! 🍚
