Matar Paneer Recipe
Ingredients:
- 200 grams paneer, cubed
- 1 cup green peas (matar), fresh or frozen
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 green chili, slit lengthwise
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing
Instructions:
- Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
- Add finely chopped onions to the pan and sautรฉ until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chili. Sautรฉ for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add tomato puree to the pan. Cook until it thickens and the raw smell disappears.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well to combine with the onions and tomatoes.
- Add cubed paneer and green peas to the pan. Mix well to coat them with the spice mixture.
- Cover the pan with a lid and let the mixture simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the peas are cooked through and the flavors meld together.
- Sprinkle garam masala powder over the Matar Paneer. Mix well to incorporate.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Garnish the Matar Paneer with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
- Serve hot Matar Paneer with naan, roti, or rice for a satisfying meal!
