Mutton Curry Recipe

Ingredients:🍽️

  • 500 grams mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped or pureed
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (curd), beaten
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing
  • Oil, for cooking

Instructions:🍽️

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker or large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
  3. Add finely chopped onions to the pot and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes or tomato puree to the pot. Cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  6. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pot. Mix well to combine with the onions and tomatoes.
  7. Add the mutton pieces to the pot and mix well to coat them with the spice mixture.
  8. Cook the mutton for a few minutes until it starts to brown slightly.
  9. Pour beaten yogurt (curd) into the pot. Mix well to combine with the mutton and spice mixture.
  10. Cover the pressure cooker or pot with a lid and cook the mutton until it is tender. If using a pressure cooker, cook for about 4-5 whistles or until the mutton is cooked through.
  11. Once the mutton is cooked, sprinkle garam masala powder over it. Mix well to incorporate.
  12. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  13. Garnish the Mutton Curry with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
  14. Serve hot Mutton Curry with steamed rice or roti for a satisfying meal!
