Ingredients:🌶️

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons oil or melted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Additional flour for dusting
  • Melted butter or ghee, for brushing
  • Chopped garlic or coriander leaves for garnishing (optional)

Instructions:🥘

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, yogurt, and oil or melted butter.
  3. Slowly mix the ingredients together, adding milk gradually, until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to its highest setting (usually around 500°F or 260°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into equal-sized balls.
  8. Roll out each ball into a teardrop or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Brush one side of each naan with water.
  10. Carefully place the naan, water-side down, onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet.
  11. Bake the naan for 2-3 minutes, or until it puffs up and the bottom is golden brown.
  12. Remove the naan from the oven and brush the top with melted butter or ghee. You can also sprinkle chopped garlic or coriander leaves for added flavor.
  13. Serve hot Naan with your favorite North Indian curries or dips, such as butter chicken or dal makhani!
