Samosas Recipe ๐Ÿด

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour ๐ŸŒพ
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt ๐Ÿง‚
  • Water, as needed ๐Ÿ’ง

For the filling:

  • 3-4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed ๐Ÿฅ”
  • 1/2 cup green peas, boiled ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1 onion, finely chopped ๐Ÿง…
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste ๐Ÿง„
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder ๐ŸŒฟ
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala ๐ŸŒฟ
  • Salt, to taste ๐Ÿง‚
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped ๐ŸŒฟ
  • Vegetable oil, for frying ๐Ÿณ

For serving:

  • Tamarind chutney or mint chutney ๐Ÿ…
  • Green chutney ๐ŸŒฟ
  • Yogurt or raita ๐Ÿฅ›

Instructions:

For the dough:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, vegetable oil, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth and firm dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

For the filling:

  1. Heat a little vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and green chilies to the pan. Sautรฉ until the onions turn translucent.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sautรฉ for another minute.
  5. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt to the pan. Mix well.
  6. Add boiled and mashed potatoes along with boiled green peas to the pan. Mix everything together and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add chopped fresh coriander leaves to the pan. Mix well and remove from heat.

For assembling the samosas:

  1. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and roll each ball into a thin oval-shaped sheet.
  2. Cut each sheet in half to form two semi-circles.
  3. Take one semi-circle and fold it into a cone, sealing the edges with water.
  4. Fill the cone with the potato-pea mixture and seal the top edge with water to form a triangular shape.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.

For frying:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Carefully place the assembled samosas into the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove the fried samosas from the oil and drain excess oil on paper towels.

For serving:

  1. Serve the hot and crispy samosas with tamarind chutney, green chutney, and yogurt or raita.
