Shahi Tukda Recipe 🍽️
Ingredients:
For Shahi Tukda:
- 6 slices of bread 🍞
- 1 cup milk 🥛
- 1/2 cup sugar 🍬
- 4-5 saffron strands, soaked in warm milk 🌼
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder 🌿
- Ghee or oil, for frying 🍳
- Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios), for garnishing 🥜
- Dried rose petals, for garnishing 🌹
For Rabri (Optional):
- 2 cups whole milk 🥛
- 2 tablespoons sugar 🍬
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder 🌿
- Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios), for garnishing 🥜
Instructions:
For Shahi Tukda:
- Trim the edges of the bread slices and cut them into triangles or squares.
- Heat ghee or oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the bread slices until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. Drain excess oil on paper towels and set aside.
- In a separate saucepan, heat milk over medium heat. Add sugar, soaked saffron strands, and cardamom powder.
- Let the milk simmer until it thickens slightly and reduces to a creamy consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Once the milk mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat.
- Dip the fried bread slices into the prepared saffron milk mixture, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them soak for a few minutes.
- Arrange the soaked bread slices on a serving platter.
For Rabri (Optional):
- In a separate saucepan, heat whole milk over medium heat.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder to the milk and stir well.
- Let the milk simmer, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and reduces to half its original volume.
- Once the milk has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Pour the prepared rabri over the arranged Shahi Tukda slices.
Garnish:
- Garnish the Shahi Tukda with chopped nuts, such as almonds and pistachios, and dried rose petals for an elegant touch.
