Sugar Syrup Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar ๐Ÿง‚
  • 1 cup water ๐Ÿ’ง
  • A few strands of saffron (optional) ๐ŸŒผ
  • 1 teaspoon rose water or cardamom powder (optional) ๐ŸŒน

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Once the sugar is fully dissolved, add a few strands of saffron for color and flavor. Stir well.
  4. Allow the sugar syrup to come to a gentle boil. If using rose water or cardamom powder, add it at this stage for additional flavor.
  5. Let the sugar syrup simmer for 5-7 minutes until it slightly thickens. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  6. Once the sugar syrup reaches the desired consistency (it should have a slightly sticky texture), remove it from the heat.
  7. Let the sugar syrup cool down for a few minutes.
  8. Your sugar syrup is now ready to be used in various North Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, Jalebi, Rasgulla, and more!
