Sugar Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar 🧂
- 1 cup water 💧
- A few strands of saffron (optional) 🌼
- 1 teaspoon rose water or cardamom powder (optional) 🌹
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once the sugar is fully dissolved, add a few strands of saffron for color and flavor. Stir well.
- Allow the sugar syrup to come to a gentle boil. If using rose water or cardamom powder, add it at this stage for additional flavor.
- Let the sugar syrup simmer for 5-7 minutes until it slightly thickens. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Once the sugar syrup reaches the desired consistency (it should have a slightly sticky texture), remove it from the heat.
- Let the sugar syrup cool down for a few minutes.
- Your sugar syrup is now ready to be used in various North Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, Jalebi, Rasgulla, and more!
